I know that you have watched a
high-speed chase before, if not in real life at least on television. Either way,
I think it has the same effect. It gets the adrenaline pumping (at least for me
it does)! I thought of words to describe it: exciting, action-packed, fast-paced. All of these words and more
describe the chase itself, but what about the people involved in the chase? I
can think of a few different terms to describe them: focused, determined, relentless!
They are serious about pursuing their goal or target and won’t stop until they achieve
it.
Let’s switch gears a bit (no pun intended). What about your pursuit of God? What adjectives would you use to
describe your personal pursuit? Would it be words like the ones I used previously:
focused, driven, relentless? Or would you use words like inconsistent,
haphazard, or distracted? (Be honest with yourself.)
Are you in hot pursuit of God?
I can only speak for me. The reality is, I am not as the kids say “all in” (completely committed to the cause),
BUT I sincerely desire to be. My pursuit of God is inconsistent at best. Some
days I feel like I pursue Him more aggressively than others. I guess it depends
on what’s going on in my life. Like most people, I am busy (understatement). My
time with God often gets the short end of the deal. Not the picture I want to paint, but definitely
a true assessment. Thankfully, his mercies are new every morning and just
because I am not where I should be, doesn’t mean I have to stay in that place
(and neither do you). I want Him to change me from the inside out. No longer I,
but He who lives in me. So my goal is to be in hot pursuit of God – focused,
driven, relentless in my goal to have more of Him in my life and less
of me.
Oh that we would all pursue God
like we pursue after worldly things like status, careers, money, possessions, a significant other or a mate!
What
are you pursuing today? (Based on your efforts, not your words.) Are you really pursuing God?
If you aren't, is what you're pursuing really worth it? Let me answer that question. No, it’s
not!
I recommend a change in the focus
of your pursuit. Go “all in” for God, today!
