On Fulfilling Dreams: Part 2 “A Difficult Delivery"

I can remember that day 16 years ago as if it was yesterday.  I was in labor with my oldest son.  The labor had been preceded by some challenges. About six months into the pregnancy, I developed gallstones and had severe digestive attacks for the latter portion of the pregnancy. As the attacks became more frequent and more severe, I became afraid to eat and started to lose too much weight so they decided to induce my labor ahead of schedule. Well as things would go, he didn’t tolerate contractions well and his heart rate dropped repeatedly. For a period of time it was touch and go. There was a fear that my baby wasn’t going to survive! I was quickly rushed to the operating room for an emergency C-section. Under normal circumstances, giving birth is no easy feat. But to say that this was a difficult pregnancy and delivery is an understatement. The truth of it all is, I wouldn’t trade what I went through for anything because I delivered a healthy, beautiful 6 1bs,1 oz. baby boy.

I believe that there is some similarity between my childbirth experience with my first child and the process of “giving birth” to our dreams. When trying to birth our dreams we too may face challenges:
  • There are times that we will literally go through he@# trying to birth our dreams.
  • There are things that we have to suffer through for a season in order to fulfill your dreams.
  • There are times when it seems that the dream will not come to pass.

Habbakuk 2:3 speaks to this very thing “For the vision (dream) is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Just like I perservered through the difficult delivery until the end and brought forth a baby boy. We must also stay the course in order to give birth to our dreams. Even though it may seem as if (the dream) is dragging it’s feet (tarrying or taking it's time), hold fast to your dreams. Even though others may say you will never fulfill them, continue to move forward. Though the delivery may be difficult, DON’T GIVE UP!!! There are others that are depending upon you fulfilling your dream(s) so that you can be instrumental in helping them to birth theirs. Be encouraged today!
