What
is it that you desire to do?
What
is it that you would do no matter what the circumstances?
What
is your passion?
These
are three important questions to ask yourself as you seek to find out your
purpose in life or as you attempt to pursue your dreams. I have been keenly aware of my
life’s purpose and fulfilling my dreams over the past year. This was
brought to the forefront for me in light of the tremendous loss I have experienced
with the death of my mother and my sister within 6 months of each other. My
sister had just turned 50 and had so many dreams that she for various reasons
never acted on. We even talked about
doing a business together one day.
Then just yesterday a neighbor, a friend, a mother of a teenage daughter passed
away unexpectedly. I was saddened by this and grieved for her daughter, her
mother and the rest of her family. Once again I was drawn back to this concept of fulfilling dreams. I wondered about her dreams, what were they?
Did she get a chance to fulfill all of them?
I
believe that God put inside each of us big dreams, things that are
so beyond our grasp that we have to walk with Him to completely fulfill them. There are desires that are within us that are waiting to be brought forth, some of them haven't even been verbalized to those closest to us. I
believe the scripture encourages us to pursue those desires or dreams. In Psalms
37:4 it reads “Delight yourself also in
the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.“ (Amplified Bible)
Some
of us are alive and for the most part well, yet we are still making excuses for
why we are not pursuing our dreams. We can list a number of reasons why we are
not in hot pursuit of them like no time, no money, no motivation, but at the end
of the day the buck stops with us. We are accountable to God for what we do with the gifts and talents He has given to each of us. We are without excuse. I would like to
stand before Him one day and show Him that I brought back a great return on what He
entrusted to me. How about you?
What are your dreams?
What can you do today to
be one step closer to fulfilling them?
What are you waiting on?
