Let Him Rain!Let Him Reign!

Worship was incredible yesterday. The songs were so uplifting.  It was what I needed. It was what God deserved. We sang beautiful songs that led to a time of intimate corporate worship. One of the songs was about asking God to rain His Spirit upon us. The chorus was “Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain”! Another song talked about how He reigns as God. The chorus for this song went “He Reigns! He reigns! He reigns!  Our God is an awesome God!”  The focus of these songs is two words that sound alike, but have different meanings: rain and reign.  [Rainto offer bestow, or give in great quantityReign, to possess or exercise sovereign power or authority.] These are powerful words to us as believers. These are words that we can hold on to in times like these, when there is so much uncertainty and turmoil…
The economy is bad and not showing signs of improvement.
People’s finances are affected by the poor economy.
Sickness has been on a rampage.
Tragedies are plastered on headlines across the country.
Death has visited so many within the last year.
People are hurting and are desperate for help.

If we ever need to understand that we need God to rain on us, we do now.  In Psalm 72:6 it reads “He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.” Lord, we need you to RAIN! Rain down your Spirit, your power, your strength, your mercy, your grace!

And not only do we need Him to rain, we need Him to reign. In Psalms 93:1 it saysThe LORD reigns, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, with which he has girded himself: the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.” We can find comfort in knowing that even in the midst of a less than promising outlook (in the natural) HE REIGNS! God is in control. He knows what we face. He cares about our circumstances. He works on our behalf. He was, is, and forever will be the King on the throne and He reigns!

I challenge and encourage you today: Let Him Rain! Let Him Reign!!!
