The God of "Not Enough"

I knew it was bound to happen and I am really surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. My oldest son was occupying one bathroom, my youngest son was a “guest occupant” in our bathroom, and my husband was impatiently waiting on the bed for one of them to be done. Luckily, I had gone first before the traffic jam. I listened as shouts echoed from the bathroom indicating their status. My youngest son shouted “I’m done!” which meant that my husband immediately sprang to his feet, storming the bathroom door. I breathed a sigh of relief as the crisis was averted. It was then that I came to the realization that we had gotten to the point where there was not enough space in our house or at least not enough bathrooms.  I thought, great yet another thing to think about.

After the critical situation downgraded, I left the house and while I was driving my mind was still rehearsing the bathroom scenario I had just experienced.  I was trying to think of feasible solutions to our “not enough” space issue. Then God dropped a word in my Spirit. He said “ Don’t you know that I am the God of “not enough”?

I pondered that thought for a moment... "The God of Not Enough"

As I processed this, I began to think about one of the names of God that I remember learning about and studying in Genesis 22 where Abraham was asked to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Talk about a “not enough” moment! Thankfully, God provided a sacrifice for him. It was at this place, in that moment, He was called Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. While my bathroom scenario was definitely not as critical as Abraham’s situation, it was still an opportunity for God to show himself as a provider in those “not enough” moments.
You know there will always be those “not enough” situations in our lives,

Not enough time,

Not enough money,

Not enough strength,

Not enough…

I rejoice that even in the midst of our not enough moments, God is JEHOVAH JIREH, more than enough! Be encouraged today.
