FOCUS ON THE S.A.V.I.O.R: DAY 6 – REDEEMER

On this last day of this sacred week, we will move to the final letter “R” in the name Savior. As we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ we must all know Him as our Redeemer. It is really important to understand what this word means. One of the definitions is “to recover ownership of by paying a specified sum”(freedictionaryonline.com).
Did you know that Jesus purchased you for an [astronomical amount]? Yes! Jesus redeemed you and I! I can’t speak for you, but I simply can’t thank Him enough. I am grateful because I know that I was fit only for the grave; nothing good in me, nothing worthy of saving, but my redeemer, Jesus did the unthinkable. He came down from His throne, knowing that He would be persecuted, and ultimately be crucified, and paid the asking price, His life, for me! I rejoice that not only did He surrender His life, but He rose from the grave declaring that it was finished.
I am redeemed!
You are redeemed!
Rejoice! Our redeemer lives today!

FOCUS ON THE S.A.V.I.O.R: DAY 5 – ONE AND ONLY

As we continue to focus on the Savior during this sacred week, today we will move to the letter “O” in the name Savior. The attribute that we will look at is the [undisputable] fact that Jesus is the one and only. 1 Corinthians 8:6 reads yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live”.

Many have tried to suggest that there are others who are equal in deity and power, but it is NOT so! Be not deceived, no mere human, no god, no inner being – NO ONE can take the place of Who He is, What He did, and What He continues to do! He is the one and only one that was an acceptable sacrifice to cover the multitude of sins both in the past, those in the present and those to come. There are no substitutes for a Savior that gave His life for us so that we could live in Him. He made a way for us that no other could have done. He is the one and only way for us to have an abundant life here on earth and an eternal life beyond the grave. Today, take time to meditate on the ultimate sacrifice that He made for you. Let the reality of Who He is seep into your heart and cause you to respond to His overwhelming love. Be encouraged today.

Declare what is to be, present it-let them take counsel together.
Who foretold this long ago,
who declared it from the distant past?
Was it not I, the Lord?
And there is no God apart from me,
a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. Isaiah 45:21

FOCUS ON THE S.A.V.I.O.R: DAY 4 – IMMUTABLE

As we continue to focus on the Savior during this sacred week, today we will move to the letter “I” in the name Savior. The attribute that we will look at is Jesus is immutable. This word is defined as not capable of or susceptible to change. In Malachi 3:6(a) we read, “For I am the LORD, I change not”. I am so grateful that though I live in a world of uncertainty and though I deal with people that are fickle daily, He is immutable. The same Jesus that demonstrated His unconditional, sacrificial love for us on the cross is the same Jesus yesterday, today, and forever more (Hebrews 13:8). His plan of salvation offered freely to us as a result of surrendering His life, has not changed. His love remains the same and His promises are full proof.
Circumstances change.
Minds change.
Times Change.
Relationships change.
We change.
He does not change.
He is immutable.
Be encouraged today!

FOCUS ON THE S.A.V.I.O.R: DAY 3 – VICTOR

As we continue to focus on the Savior during this sacred week, today we will move to the letter “V” in the name Savior. The attribute that we will look at is Jesus as the “victor”. I am sure no one will willingly volunteer to be on a losing team. Winning is always the goal in any area of competition. Why should it be any different in the spiritual arena?

We should all have the idea of winning (spiritually speaking) as our focus. Thankfully for us, this has already been made possible because Jesus is the victor. We can rejoice in His work at the cross because it was there He conquered death, hell and the grave! The issues we face today have already been dealt with at the cross. We can find comfort in knowing that no matter what the Supreme Court says, the President, no matter if there is an economic crisis, or a personal crisis you face, Jesus is the victor! Furthermore, that means that if He has already won, so have we! Be encouraged today!

FOCUS ON THE S.A.V.I.O.R: DAY 2 – ADVOCATE

As we continue to focus on the Savior during this sacred week, today we will move to the letter “A” in the name Savior. The attribute that we will look at is Jesus as our “advocate”. An advocate is defined as “one that pleads the cause of another; specifically: one that pleads the cause of another before a tribunal or judicial court” (merriamwebster.com). Did you know that that’s exactly what Jesus did and still does for us? The evidence against us was overwhelming. We didn’t stand a chance. But Jesus, our advocate stepped in and plead the case before our accusers. Though we were guilty, He offered to take the penalty for us! Though deserving of punishment, He took on our punishment! Thank God for an advocate like no other. In I John 2:1, we read “My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.” I am not sure about anyone else, but it melts my heart to know that I have an advocate, someone who goes before me and pleads my case. He is on my side. With Him I can’t lose and neither can you! Be encouraged today!
