Yesterday while worshipping I was moved
by one word in a song that we sang. I know what you are probably thinking, “One word?” Yes, it was this one word
that I could not stop thinking about even after I got home. That word is “Dominion”. I had heard it before of course and I was
pretty sure I knew it’s meaning, but I looked it up just to make sure I was
thinking of it correctly. The definition of Dominion
is “supreme
authority”
(www.merriam-webster.com). I had heard it used before in terms of God
having dominion. But I kept thinking there was much more to this word. After
searching the scriptures I discovered in Psalm
8:6 “You have given him dominion over the works of your hands;
you have put all things under his feet,” I thought wow, because of Who He is, I have dominion. You have dominion. To me, that is definitely
something to shout about.
But
wait, so if we indeed have dominion, why is it that we tend to live such a
defeated life? Is it because we don’t
know who we are? Is it because we
don’t take God at His word? Is it
because we don’t know His word and His promises to us? The
answer for most is probably a combination of all of these. I believe it is time
to rise up and operate like we know who and whose we are. It is time to claim
our place in the Kingdom.
No
more defeated attitudes when we face trials and tests.
No
more being timid and fearful to do the things that God said we could do.
No
more hanging our heads in the face of adversity.
Let
me remind you that we are the King’s children; His heirs. Not just any King, THE
KING OF KINGS! Don’t let the enemy convince you that you are without
authority or powerless. Take your place in God. Rejoice!
We have dominion! Be encouraged today.
