You know it is amazing the efforts
we go through to commemorate, celebrate, and recognize Easter, the resurrection
of our Lord and Savior. In both the religious and the secular arenas, there is
much time and money put into making this day the absolutely best it can be. But
after the outfits are put way, the Easter music put in the back of the cabinet, and the plastic eggs and bunnies stored in their containers for the next
celebration, just what is it that we do next? Do we go on with business as
usual, living our lives like He did not die and rise from the grave on the third
day? I would hope the answer would be a resounding “NO!”, but sometimes what we
say with our mouths does not line up to what actually happens. After the resurrection
Jesus went around appearing to those He was close to. He appeared to “doubting
Thomas”, the disciples on the road to Emmaus and on other occasions. He gave
the instructions on what needed to happen next, after everything had taken
place.
In John
21: 15 we read “Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.” and in verse 19 it reads “And after this, He said to him, Follow Me!” These
two commands are just as much for us today as it was for Peter and the other
disciples back then. There is much work to do and we have lost so much time. A
dying world needs to know the Jesus we speak about, the Jesus we serve! He set
the example for us to follow. If He is our leader, then our goal should be to follow Him! So I ask the question “After
the resurrection, what’s next?”
Let’s be about our Father’s business and
share
the Good News that He lives and He saves!
