As I thought about the state of our country and everything that has happened in recent months, I was saddened by it all. I turned to His word for comfort and strength and I
thought about this scripture in Isaiah
40 verses 28-31. It reads “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The
LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not
grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength
to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow
tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD
will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run
and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
In light of the Boston bombings that occurred on yesterday and the
Sandy Hook Elementary Massacre that occurred in December of last year, and
as we face the current economic crisis, it would not be hard to understand that some may feel hopeless or that perhaps God has forgotten His people. But
rest assured, He has not! Also, please understand that no matter what happens: He is
still God! He is not taken by surprise, though grieved, He sees ALL, He hears, He knows.
Perhaps for you, the state of our world is frightening. It may
even be difficult to remain hopeful. But let me remind you that God is still on the
throne. He cares what happens in our world, our nation, our city, our families,
and in our own individual lives. Cry out to Him!
Pray for those affected by the senseless violence.
Pray for those responsible for the heinous acts.
Pray for those that go against His holy word and mock Him.
Pray for those who ignorantly do things to harm His people.
Pray for those who deny His existence.
As we anxiously await His return, we must continue to
rejoice in knowing that He is still God. Don’t lose hope. Trust Him. Let Him renew your
strength as you meditate on His word. Be encouraged today!
