I stepped into a new role today as
landlord and my first official duty was to begin the eviction process in my
life, something that I know is long overdue. I have decided that it is time to
serve notice to some unwanted tenants that have taken up residence. There was a
time I didn’t realize they were there. Once I did realize they had taken occupancy, they had been there
for so long that it was hard to let them go. But today I am ready to make a
move, something I should have done a long time ago. These tenants MUST GO! They must be exposed for who they are in case
they (or a close relative) try to take up residence elsewhere, now that I have
evicted them. Pay close attention to the descriptions of these perpetrators.
- Tenant
#1 is Mrs. Doubt. She appears to be harmless on the surface, but it is
not too long before she reveals her true self and her purpose. She desires to
cause me to abort my purpose because I lack the faith to believe that God will
do what He said He will do in my life. She does things like remind me of my past
failures or the “what ifs” when I am trying to move forward. It tends to cause
me to second-guess things that I was once sure of. When I start to do that I find it difficult to take God at His word completely in my life. It's time for Mrs. Doubt to pack her bags. She has definitely overstayed her welcome.
- Tenant #2 is Mr. Disobedience – This
tenant I would like to describe as a “big bully”. He tends to throw his wait around as if to
flaunt his power. He also can be a bit deceiving by only partially committing
his acts, but I am aware of his tactics. His goal is very clear to get me completely off track on my walk with
God. He knows that obedience is a non-negotiable, so he does everything he can
to get me to disobey God’s clear directives. No longer will I fall prey to him.
It is time for him to vacate the premises.
- Tenant #3 is Mr. Procrastination – This
has probably been my longest, most faithful tenant. I actually have come to
adore him like one of my own family members. We have been through a lot
together. He tells me it’s ok to put things off until the last minute. In fact
he had actually convinced me that that is when I do my best work. I don’t
really think he meant me any harm, but his advice has caused unnecessary stress
in my life. My putting things off has caused me to waste time and resources
unnecessarily. If I desire to walk in God’s perfect will, I have got to kick Mr. Procrastination out.
- The other tenants (Mr. Faith, Mrs. Obedience and Mrs. Do It Now)
will not stay as long as these are here. Eviction notices have been served. God is up to something new and exciting in my life.
Are there tenants in your life that need to be served eviction notices? The answer is "Yes!", if they hinder you from being all that God wants you to be. Don't wait. Serve the eviction notices today!
It is time to move forward!
