EMBRACING A NEW DAY

For me and many fellow teachers who just spent a week away from the classroom, students, lesson plans and the like, getting up this morning may be a bit tough (understatement). If you’re like me you have been in denial that this day was going to come... "the monday after Spring Break". I suspect that there are some at this very moment attempting to hide their heads in the pillows in hopes that this day would retreat. If you didn’t have a “Spring Break”, maybe you are just one of those people who dread Mondays and are experiencing the same type of feelings. I must admit I was in a “curse this day” mode just yesterday until I was convicted about my attitude towards it.

Have you ever stopped to think that perhaps how we approach each new day matters to God? Or that perhaps if we approach a new day with dread, and discontent that it might be displeasing to Him? I never really gave it a great deal of thought until recently. So just how should we greet each new day we are given? I sincerely believe that we must learn to embrace and cherish each day as a gift, because we are not promised a tomorrow. Each new day we are blessed with brings refreshing, renewal, and new mercies, so why would we dread seeing it? I am just as guilty as the next person, so I am by no means judging you. But as we learn better, we should desire to do better. I know I want to do better and in order to do that I must change my perspective.

Though I would much rather stay in bed a little longer or have another week off, I will greet this new day with joy, excitement and anticipation for the God encounters it may hold. What about you? Will you approach this day with a pleasant attitude, realizing that it is a gift from above? Hopefully your answer is a resounding “Yes!” I would like to speak a blessing over your day today:
May you embrace this day as a gift from God.
May you be aware of the opportunities that God puts in your path
and act on each one of them.
May you rejoice in knowing that He loves you has a plan for your life.
May you share His love with someone else today.
Be encouraged!
