It doesn’t matter what is going on
with me. I can be gravely ill, knocking on death’s door and my kids still will
come in to ask me questions like “What’s
for dinner?”, “Can you help me with
this?” or “Have you seen my _____?”. I always say to my friends when
complaining about the fact that as a mom I am always on duty “I am still mama” no matter what, regardless
of my title, my degrees, my status, my mental/emotional condition, my kids
don’t care because to them I am and will always be mama. If they need me, and
they ALWAYS DO, they expect me to be there. The truth be told, I will do just
that regardless because I was raised that way by one of the word’s greatest
moms, Lorene Daniels, though no
longer with me she watches over me from her heavenly home.
Some days I must admit I want to
resign my position and put in for a career change. It is often frustrating and
overwhelming at times. I am often sleep deprived and overworked, but I love the
role God placed me in and that is the role of a mother, nurturer, care taker of
one of the most precious gifts bestowed upon a woman. So today as I am
recognized, knowing that “I am still mama”
makes me proud and realize that I wouldn’t want it any other way.
If you are a mom I celebrate you
today because as a mom I truly understand the vastness of a mother’s heart. Its’
compassion knows no end, it reaches far beyond failures and mess-ups and it
aches more than any other for her children. As I am “still mama” no matter what, so are you. May your day be filled with the honor you
deserve from the ones you cherish and hold dear. Be encouraged today!
Her children arise and call
her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: "Many women
do noble things, but you surpass them all." Charm is deceptive,
and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Proverbs 31:28-30
