GOD OF THE “MEANTIME”

I have seen it written, heard it said before, you know the phrase “In the meantime”.  I have actually used it before myself in describing what I am doing or will be doing as I go from one task or goal to another. In my mind it is like an “in between time”. I heard someone say it just yesterday and for some reason it sent me into a world wind of thought. I asked myself “What does it really mean? and ”How does this apply to my life right now?”  It is officially defined as “the intervening time or period, as between events”(www.thefreedictionaryonline.com). That’s the official dictionary definition, but I believe God gave me revelation about what “meantime” means in the spiritual arena: It is the time between the delivery of a word or a promise from God (about a particular situation) and the manifestation of that Word or promise in your life.

I think that sums it up for where I am in my life! I have received the promise, but it has yet to fully come to pass. I am in a “meantime” place in my life. Some mistakenly believe that the “meantime” is a time when nothing is going on and God has essentially forgotten about us, but that is so not the case. It is a time when God is preparing, pruning, developing us into what He needs us to be to receive that promise or Word. [Note: Everyone is not ready to receive the promise.] Some become frustrated, angry, bitter or even give up because they feel their “ship will never come in”. They end up cursing this time in their life and walking away. I say to you, don’t curse the “meantime” thinking that it is insignificant because that cannot be farther from the truth. It has a purpose and is necessary.  It is the time that God is intervening in your situation. Making you better for the journey. The meantime may look different for each person:
- For some the “meantime” is a time of facing some trials and tests in certain areas of their life while experiencing some victories in other areas.
- For some the “meantime” is a time when God opens doors that were once shut, and closes doors that were once open.
- For some the “meantime” is a time when opportunities that once were non-existent are now being laid at your feet, while other things that you thought were definite no longer make sense.
- For some the “meantime” is a time when your circle of association is growing smaller, but the support and encouragement you receive is growing exponentially.

Are you in a “meantime” place in your life? It might have been a long road that you have been traveling and perhaps it feels like you have been circling the runway (way too long). Your landing time is approaching! The word says in Habakkuk 2:3For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”

Hold on! He has not forgotten you. He is God of the “meantime”, too. Be encouraged today!
