ALWAYS REMEMBER

“Don’t you remember that time when I…?” This is one of my son’s favorite statements when he wants me to think about the “nice things he has done for me”. Usually this conversation is geared towards me remembering his actions so that I can return the favor. Yes, it usually does have an ulterior motive. I do believe it is important to remember those times when others have done things for us but I believe it is even more important to remember what God has done for us. Remembering God’s past working in our lives is a great tool that we can use to help us get through those times in our lives when things are tough.

I know that sometimes when we are struggling, facing storms or going through hell it is not that easy to “Remember the time when…” but God want us to. It is so easy to get stuck in a pattern of rehearsing our problems, our lack, or our battles because they are our reality. But what would happen if in the face of adversity we began to recount the many times God has come through for us in various circumstances? I think it will change our perspective. You can’t help but think well if He did it then, “Why won’t He come through now?”

When was the last time that you have focused on His blessings, His deliverance, His making a way when there wasn’t one in your life? Let me remind you, God is faithful! His motives for us “Remembering the time when….” is to help us understand that He has never failed us and He never will. It is simply to strengthen our faith in Him. So, the next time you are in that place where life is draining and you begin to doubt that God will work it out, always remember His track record in your life. He is the same God today, yesterday, and forevermore. He will come through for you!
Be encouraged today.
