Ready to fold and put away, I was in my laundry groove. One load down and many more to go. It didn't matter because I was in that mode, house cleaning that is. I heard the dryer stop so off I went to the laundry room. I flung open the dryer and there the horror was staring me in the face as if to say "I got you!" That's right you guessed it, an ink pen was left in someone's pocket and now it had spread its' contents to the entire population of clothes. I was so bummed! I thought what can I do to get these ink stains out. I began to look for home remedies to try and counteract the stains. I looked for ANYTHING in my possession that I could use. I was on a serious mission. I refused to just give in and toss them out. I knew they could be salvaged. I washed, re-washed and re-re-washed. I was hopeful that the last wash got the job done. My efforts unfortunately proved to be futile. The clothes were still ink stained!
Looking back on it, some may think I kind of went overboard with my quest to save that load of laundry. Maybe I did? It is sort of funny now. I laugh to myself thinking about how determined I was to clean those ink stained clothes. I was relentless in my pursuit to save them. How much more is God relentless to save us, His sin-stained people? He is in pursuit of us so much more than my human effort to save my clothes. Unlike my efforts, His stain removal method is fail proof. No matter what the "stain", nothing is too deep that His blood can't cleanse. All He needs is vessels that will surrender to Him so that He can take that sin-stained soul, apply His blood, and watch it transform into a vessel that can be used for His Kingdom. Why would He do all of that? Because of His love for us. Oh what an amazing love!
~ Don't keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Psalms 51:9 (NIV)
~ ... and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7 (NIV)
~ But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 (NIV)
